CHARLIE'S ANGELS -
FULL THROTTLE
[2003] Rated
12A Cameron Diaz, Lucy Lui and Drew Barrymore are all back for this second helping of Charlie's Angels. The only big name who didn't return for the sequel was Bill Murray, who I believe declined the offer of returning because of the previous problems he had with some of the other leading cast members on the original movies shoot. A shame really, as he did bring a certain amount of charisma to the first film. However, he didn't return and his replacement is suitably amusing in the role of Bosly. This film is very much like the original, with that being a good thing as well as a bad thing. All the high kicking slow motion action is present, and so is all the lovable eccentricities of the lead characters. It's just, once you've seen the girls running around in bikini's more than a few times, after a while the novelty starts to wear off, and not even the addition of Demi Moores near perfect figure can reverse that situation. That being said though, the movie is fun and the many celebrity cameos do help fill the slightly slow bits. The story revolves around one of the angels having to deal with her past, as well as having the illusive Charlie also having to deal with someone from his earlier days. All in all, it's standard main stream entertainment, more of a winner with the lads than the girls I imagine. Which forces me to add, in an attempt to make up for my previous comment, even though those bikini's do start to loose their appeal after about the second showing of flesh, they never actually become tiresome. 3/5 |
