15 Descent thrillers are hard to come by these days, and original ones are even scarcer. So we should all cherish this particular film for being the Hollywood anomaly it is. Basically, or not so, as you will find out when you watch the film, a select few individuals unfortunate enough to be trapped together in a highway motel for a night, start being killed off one by one. Usually this is where I would start rambling on about how un-original the movie is, but not in this case, oh no. It may sound like standard murderer on the loose nosh, but it so isn't, trust me. 'Identity' manages to keep you on the edge of your seat through out, guessing, thinking, predicting, but I'm pretty sure that none of you will properly know what is going on, until right at the end. That is of course the hallmark of a good movie. A movie that climbs and climbs its way to its finale, making sure that when it does eventually get to its end, there is no where else for it to go. In English that basically means you'll leave the cinema feeling completely satisfied and fulfilled. John Cusack takes the lead, even though you aren't exactly sure who's in the lead role till nearing the end, and does a good job of balancing the realism and surrealism for which the movie weaves back and forth throughout. If you fancy a bit of mind play, and are quite happy to be outsmarted by a movie, then this is the film for you.
