MY LITTLE EYE [2002] Jennifer Sky, Stephen O Reilly ; Rated 18 Director Marc Evans does quite a good job of creating the tension and un-easy atmosphere which this film stands up on. His use of sound, noise and music especially is well thought out and makes this horror flik quite original, so from a film making point of view this film is not too bad. Basically the movie is about 5 unsuspecting (or at least initially) Big Brother type wannabes, who agree to try and spend 6 months in an isolated house in the middle of nowhere for the chance to win one million dollars. As you'd expect, strange and disturbing things start taking place until the young group begin to realise what is actually happening to them and why they are actually there. The film starts adequately but loses it's pace during the middle act just to find it again for the last 30 minutes, where it's genre really becomes apparent. Now all that's been said, I shall get down to essentially what a movie is supposed to be about... entertainment. I did not find this film entertaining, in fact I found it's content morally horrific and unpleasant to watch. Let me get one thing straight though, I didn't really find this film scary at all, sure there are a few places which make you jump but overall this movie is not one to frighten, it simply disgusts. I go to the cinema to escape from real life and put my troubles and the worlds out of my mind for 90 minutes. This film simply served to remind me of how dark and evil this world can be. The films sheer realism I felt went beyond your average Friday night thrills and into territory it had no place being. My advice to you is, put your intrigue to one side and don't see this film, you will regret it if you do.
