STAR TREK NEMESIS [2002] Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner ; 12A

Jean Luc Picard and the crew of The Next Generation take to the big screen for the fourth time and make this outing the 10th for the franchise as a whole. Star Trek Nemesis since day one of it's production has had a lot on it's shoulders, in the unusually long four year period since the last film, two Star Trek television series' have come to end and a new one, not based in the Next Generations time period has started. So a significant number of things have happened and after the slightly disappointing Star Trek Insurrection, fans with due justification are looking for reassurance that Star Trek still has a future in this ever changing world, and reassurance is what this film gives by the ship load. The ship being of course the U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701-E, which this time carries her crew to the frontline of a Romulan plan to destroy the Federation once and for all, with the help of a Picard clone, of course. Stuard Baird takes over from Jonathan (Riker) Frakes, who directed the last two movies, which refreshingly makes the film feel very different to past ventures. The films first hour has just the right balance of action, story and character, which entertains wonderfully, but it is the final 50 minutes which make the film. An extravaganza of space battles, fisticuffs and twists will make your heart race and all this with a huge amount of emotion. Star Trek Nemesis is no doubt an epic movie, following in the footsteps of The Wrath of Khan and First Contact. If this is to be a generations final journey, the much loved crew go out with style. The ending will have you reaching for the tissues and you'll almost certainly want to see it again.
