Basically it's a crime mystery thriller. Gene Hackman plays a retiring thief who is obviously, the best in the business, though when he tries to his primary contractor (Danny DeVito) decides he isn't about to let his best string disappear on holiday for the rest of his life. The old "Okay but this is the last job!" routine kicks in and before you can say "what's going on?" the film erupts into a spiralling tale of deceit and honour with more twists than that ever so popular ice cream. The whole cast is excellent and the directing is smooth and efficient. Put the hands together and you've got one of the best films around at the moment. It keeps you guessing all they way through till the last few seconds before the close. This is a must see movie and it will put a smile on your face at the end.
